Pull and Be Damned Messabout

Launch Ramp and Parking Info:
Hoist at PQ dock, Cap Sante Marina, Port of Anacortes. A users manual for the Small Boat Sling at Cap Sante Marina, Anacortes by Simeon Baldwin is posted here.

Hoist fee: $3.00 per use. Free parking at Seafarer’s or upland from PQ crane.

  • Hand launch boat hoist only. Maximum gross weight of
    boat & trailer 4,000 lbs. No vehicles are allowed on pier.
  • Hoist lifting capacity 3600 lbs max Use dolly provided by Port to travel from upland to the hoist.
  • For those who need assistance there will be a crane operator.
  • Alternatively hand or cart launching is possible at Seafarer’s park

Schedule and Activities: Meet at the dock 10:00. Potluck lunch at noon. Some food provided.
Informal racing after lunch, messing about all day.

Food and Shelter: Potluck lunch at the Seafarer park building and plaza at 12:30. Barbecues will be provided for those who want to grill or heat up items.

Local Knowledge: Fidalgo bay is reasonably protected, and Seafarer’s park is a first rate small boat facility with good access to the bay. Pictures and comments from those who participated in 2015 are available on the Woodenboat forum.

Note: While the official messabout will end at 1600 hours, participants might wish to cruise out to Saddlebag island for Saturday night, good camping.

Accommodations: There are many good hotels in the area. Camping is available at Washington Park in Anacortes, and at three campgrounds in Deception Pass State Park.
