Squeeze a Little More out of Summer messabout in Bowman Bay

Date: September 30, 2017

Location: Bowman Bay, Fidalgo Island, Deception Pass State Park

Contact: Claire Acord whidbeyboatpainter@gmail.com

Launch and Parking Info: Good parking, no float, launch fee $7.00 per day. Discovery Pass needed for parking. Photo is ramp at approx. 6.0’

The boat ramp is for small craft only--up to 20 ft. The tide is rising until approx. 1430, so larger boats need to plan an early day and be hauled out by mid afternoon. The ramp flattens out at lower tides. There is plenty of beach to hand launch a kayak or other small boat. And, the parking lot is very near the beach.

Schedule and Activities: Boat a little, potluck picnic around noon, boat a little more.

Tides for the day:  Low:  0626 - 1.4'
                              High: 1433 - 7.0'
                              Low:  2032 - 5.0'

Food & Shelter: Picnic tables. Until conditions become wetter a total burn ban in the Park means that no fires of any kinds are allowed. Please let Claire know if you want her to bring a portable BBQ. Acords will bring a pop-up tent if weather is wet. Picnic area is also close to parking lot.

Accomodations: NA

Local Knowledge: If there is a big westerly wind, or a big westerly swell running we will probably not launch many boats as this bay is open to the WNW and can develop quite a bit of surf on the ramp.
