Date: Saturday, April 6, 2019

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Location: Bowman Bay, Fidalgo Island, WA.

Contact: Claire Acord,

Type of launch facilities: Ramp has good surface, but can be seaweedy, slippery at lower waters, no float, cobble beach with sandy patches. Good parking close to ramp, safe, much use by kayakers.

Tides (April 6, 2019)
     Low 03,35  -0.10 ft.
    High 10:00   4.71 ft.
     Low 16:09  -0.13 ft.
    High 21:56   5.27 ft.

Activities "Schedule": Tiny Deception Island is about a mile out from the Bay and makes a fun paddle or sail to round it and return to the Bay. The beach is sandy and lends itself to beaching boats and allows an excellent chance to meet fellow boaters and try out different boats, or just see the different craft. We'll plan to eat in the picnic area near the boat launch around noon. So come early enough to do some boating and bring a picnic lunch and maybe something to share, and your own drinks.

Although it is a part of Deception State Park, it is on Fidalgo Island, on the Anacortes side of the Deception Pass bridge.Exit at Rosario Road and turn left in a short distance onto Bowman Bay Road. Take the first left again for the boat ramp and picnic area. The bay itself is really beautiful. There is a large ball field, play ground, and of course, the boat ramp and nearby parking lot. There are several excellent trails to hike and explore as well.

Local Knowledge: Because this is a State Park, you will need a daily parking permit($10,) OR an annual ($30) Discover Pass. In addition, those using the launch ramp will also need either a daily launch pass ($7), or, an annual($80) Natural Investment Permit .
Note: Launch fees only apply to trailer launches, not hand launching.
